What you need to know about taxes and how to work with us

A Few Quick Updates from Chortek

As changes develop, Chortek is here to keep you up to speed on what we're doing to respond to the news and best serve our clients. As always, we'll keep you informed as things develop.

Here's the latest federal and state news, as well as a few other reminders from us: 

1. Though filing and payment deadlines have been changed to July 15 for Federal tax purposes, we intend to work to complete as many returns as possible as soon as possible. However, if we do not receive your complete tax information by March 31, we cannot guarantee completion by April 15. 
   
   
2. Wisconsin state deadlines have also been changed to July 15. This applies to income tax returns, income tax due, and estimated tax payments that would normally be due on April 15, 2020. No filings are necessary to obtain the extension to July. There is no limit on the payment deferral. 
   
   
3. Roughly half of our team is working remotely. However, you can communicate us as normal via email or phone. 
   
   
4. We encourage clients to send us tax documents and other documents via electronic means. You can do this by visiting our Client Access page and scrolling down to the form that says "Send Us Your Files." 
   
   
5. For the safety and health of our employees and clients, we are asking that you do not visit our office at this time. We are willing to make special arrangements, such as curbside pickups and drop-offs. 
   
   
6. We will continue to work on financial statement projects, but will mainly be working via Zoom or phone, and will exchange information electronically. To join a Zoom meeting, you can click on the link in the meeting invite, or input he Meeting ID into our "Join a Meeting" link, available at the bottom of every page, or on our Client Access page. 

Chortek is actively reviewing new Federal and State proposals and actions on tax matters and relief proposals and will pass along any new developments. We hope you have a safe and healthy week ahead!
